Diskless 4-bay soldered-2GB 2.5GbE NAS

AS3304T v2; 2GB DDR4; diskless; 4 SATA bays

The AS3304T v2 is a 4-bay soldered-2GB 2.5GbE box. Digital Reviews confirms the RAM cannot be upgraded and did not speed-test the unit. TweakTown's 2026-09-10 SSD RAID 5 record (296/200 MB/s) could not be reread this round (HTTP 403). See the review evidence ↓

ASUSTOR AS3304T v2 network attached storage system

Who this configuration fits

File sharing and backup

4 SATA bays set the main capacity and redundancy choices. RAID 5/6 can trade usable capacity for one/two-drive failure tolerance when enough drives are installed. Use the model compatibility list before buying drives.[1]

Good fit

Application hosting beyond file and backup services

The 2GB DDR4 memory is fixed; choose its file and backup features before planning application hosting.[1]

Limited fit

Fast wired transfers

1 x 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet (2.5G/1G/100M); confirm the rest of the network and drive layout.[1]

Storage, network and software trade-offs

01

Match the storage layout to the job

4 SATA bays set the main capacity and redundancy choices. RAID 5/6 can trade usable capacity for one/two-drive failure tolerance when enough drives are installed. Use the model compatibility list before buying drives.[1]

02

Plan the complete network path

1 x 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet (2.5G/1G/100M). A port rate is a link rating; protocol overhead, client storage and the array reduce file-transfer rates. This model has one Ethernet port.[1]

03

Understand software and workload limits

Reads approached the 2.5GbE link ceiling in the SSD array; writes were slower.[5]

04

What is actually known about this 4-bay 2GB box

Soldered 2GB DDR4 cannot be upgraded (Digital Reviews, vendor-sent unit, no speed test). A TweakTown SSD RAID 5 sequential record of 296/200 MB/s exists from an earlier read of the same original article; it is not a 2026-09-11 reread. Treat that number as pending verification, not a live confirmation.[5][6]

05

SSD-array results have a specific test setup

TweakTown used four Patriot P2201TB SATA SSDs in RAID5. CDM8.0.5 measured296.33/200.84 MB/s sequential read/write at Q8T1. These are SSD-array figures; they do not predict a four-HDD workload.[5]

06

Mixed-drive setup experience

Digital Reviews used drives from Synology,WD and Seagate after replacing a failed disk. The NAS recognized them, but the author had not tested throughput and used a Gigabit core switch. The vendor supplied the enclosure.[6]

Limits to keep in mind

  • SSD results are not estimates for a four-HDD array.
  • One review sample is not long-term failure-rate evidence.
  • Parent recovered original body and eight images after Grok fetches failed. Exact client configuration and firmware build remain unknown.
  • Some prose summaries differ from charts: random writes are not flat at2500 IOPS;8K70/30 peaks aroundQD8 rather thanQD4. Chart estimates retained with approximate precision.
  • No original power/noise/thermal measurements were found in this review.
