Hardware, software and ownership tradeoffs
Check SATA drive thickness before buying
The English manual and current product FAQ specify SATA drives thinner than 9.5 mm. Liliputing describes 7 mm trays on its sample. That conflict remains unresolved; confirm fit with the seller before choosing a thicker 2.5-inch HDD. The review did not include a full independent teardown.[2][5]
What the original test actually measured
Over 2.5GbE with NVMe cache, a 100 GB file averaged 284 MB/s to the NAS and 244 MB/s back. Local Windows CDM on NVMe (~850 MB/s) is not a network result. TrueNAS/Debian also booted on this chassis.[5]

Ian W Morrison (Linuxium)Sep 18, 2024
Liliputing: 2.5GbE Unraid copies ~244–284 MB/s, ~11–14 W
Ian Morrison’s kept N1 sample ran Unraid 6.12.10 with four 4TB NVMe (array+cache+parity). Explorer copy screenshots show 284 MB/s to the NAS (client 10GbE send 2.4 Gbps) and 244 MB/s back (receive 2.0 Gbps). CDM on the Unraid share is 261.44/296.17 MB/s SEQ1M Q8T1. Local NVMe CDM ~853/781 MB/s is not Ethernet. Idle Unraid 11.3 W.

Liliputing LincStation N1 original test
Tested: Manufacturer-provided N1 kept by the reviewer. Unraid 6.12.10: two Lexar NM790 4TB NVMe in array, one NVMe cache, one NVMe parity; two 4TB Samsung 870 QVO SATA left unassigned then used as rsync target. Separate Windows 11 Pro 23H2 CDM/iperf on the same chassis.
Applies to: Direct for LincStation N1 hardware and Unraid 6.12.10 with NVMe cache. Windows CDM figures are local PCIe/SATA, not NAS Ethernet. 7 mm tray height is this sample vs 9.5 mm official.

Limits to keep in mind
- Manufacturer-provided sample kept after review.
- SATA tray height 7 mm in this article vs 9.5 mm official manual — do not silently pick one.
- Windows storage benches are not NAS protocol results.
- The author explicitly did not open the chassis to measure the fan; some internal views are promotional images, not an original teardown.
Common HDD combinations
This NAS does not support the 3.5-inch HDD catalog; no HDD combinations are generated.

Current US manufacturer listing
11 Sep 2026 US variant $269 in stock (compare-at $399), diskless, Unraid Starter included. 2 Sep 2026 $269 is historical.[6]
License and warranty
Unraid remains usable after the prepaid update year. N1 manual says 1-year hardware warranty; marketing pages say 2 years.[2][4]
Confirm the applicable return window
The storefront advertises 30-day money-back, while LincPlus’s separate after-sales policy specifies 15 calendar days. Authorized third-party purchases use the seller’s return rules. Confirm the terms for your purchase channel; do not assume the longer window.[1][7]

Questions before buying
What CPU is inside the N1?
The store page says Intel quad-core. Liliputing’s hands-on review and Unraid’s LincPlus page identify Celeron N5105.[1][5][3]
Can I fit 3.5-inch disks?
No 3.5-inch drives. It has two 2.5-inch SATA bays and four M.2 slots. The manual specifies SATA drives thinner than 9.5 mm, while Liliputing reports 7 mm trays; confirm fit for a thicker drive.[2][5]
How fast is Unraid on 2.5GbE?
Liliputing’s cached NVMe array copied a 100 GB file at 244–284 MB/s. That is this setup, not a RAID1 HDD result.[5]
