Same 2+4 SSD layout as N1 with N100/LPDDR5 and 10GbE. Alternate OS can live on the 128GB eMMC.[1][3]
TechRadar liked Plex once networking was tweaked, but published copies were 62–88 MB/s on that path — not a 10GbE lab.[4]

Living with it

The January 2026 architecture guide describes factory Unraid on a USB drive and the 128GB eMMC for an alternative OS such as LincOS, Windows or Debian. That documented Unraid setup hides the eMMC. Starter includes 12 months of updates; the installed eligible version remains usable afterward. Later boot/GUID migration plans should not be mistaken for the configuration already shipped.[3][1]

Alastair JenningsMar 22, 2025
Alastair Jennings’s Unraid 7.0.1 N2 with mixed SSDs reported ~42/66 MB/s on a parity array and ~62/88 MB/s after switching to a ZFS pool. Those are this office path, not proof the 10GbE port is saturated. Idle power was stated as 20 W without a meter protocol. The article describes testing as primarily wireless in Features but calls these copies wired in Performance; client and link rate remain unknown.

Tested: N2 with two Lexar N100 SATA SSDs plus NVMe SSDs; Unraid 7.0.1; conventional parity array vs ZFS pool; Plex streaming. Kickstarter-era availability note is historical.
Applies to: Direct for N2 Unraid behaviour and the disclosed SATA/NVMe setup. Performance calls the 42/66 to 62/88 MB/s copies wired, while Features says testing was primarily wireless. Client, negotiated link rate and test-path details are incomplete; these results do not establish a 10GbE limit. The 20 W idle claim has no disclosed meter method.
| Measurement | Result | Conditions & source location |
|---|---|---|
| Unraid array copy write/read | about 42 / 66 MB/s | Older parity-array method; wired path as described by reviewer.Performance |
| Unraid 7.0.1 ZFS pool copy write/read | about 62 / 88 MB/s | Same reviewer network; not a 10GbE ceiling.Performance |
| Idle power (reviewer) | just 20 W | Not a specified meter method.Features |

The gifted N2 required the included Starter key. Four self-purchased 2TB Silicon Power SP002TBP34A60M28 NVMe SSDs were installed. Docker services included Jellyfin, Resolve database and Nginx. VMs were not tested; the concern about N100 was opinion. A separate LincOS beta trial had Chinese-only settings and a limited Docker catalog.

Tested: Manufacturer-sent N2, no payment, no editorial control. Reviewer-purchased four 2TB Silicon Power SP002TBP34A60M28 PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSDs. Unraid Starter; brief LincOS trial on the same chassis.
Applies to: Direct qualitative Unraid install/license notes for N2. LincOS comments are N2-on-LincOS, not E1. No Ethernet MB/s table.
Limits to keep in mind
This NAS does not support the 3.5-inch HDD catalog; no HDD combinations are generated.
