Available QuTS hero branch versus 5.2.9 feature tables

QNAP’s QuTS hero h6.0.2.3591 (build 20260819) release notes dated 2026-08-24 list TBS-h574TX among applicable models. That confirms a published h6.0.2 branch for this family. The hardware spec page still publishes QTS 5.2.9 and QuTS hero h5.2.9 feature tables; those rows stay version-bound. This page does not claim every 5.2 table feature is unchanged on h6.0.2, and it does not document an install.[7][1]

Questions before buying

Is this diskless?

No. 05S01 includes five 1.92TB E1.S SSDs (9.6TB raw). The generic hardware table’s empty-SSD sentence is the other factory row.[6][1][2]

Same CPU as the $1,599 diskless i5?

Club386: 05S01 uses i5-1235U (12 threads), weaker than diskless i5-1340P/PE (16 threads).[2][1]

How fast is Thunderbolt?

Club386 measured 1,827 MB/s on one 221GB folder to RAID 5. QNAP/Club386 describe a 20 Gbps per-port cap, not 40 Gbps.[2]

Can I swap in cheap M.2 drives?

Physically yes via the included E1.S-to-M.2 adapters on empty units. On 05S01, Club386 says opening the branded E1.S modules can void the 3-year warranty.[1][2]

Is it quiet?

No. Two 40mm exhaust fans plus a 75mm CPU fan. Club386 would not use it in a recording room.[2][1]
