Is the TS-432X-4G right for you?

Four-drive 10GbE file serving

A four-bay ARM file server with built-in 10GbE SFP+ for read-heavy backup and shared-storage work.[1]

Good fit

Business backup on an SFP+ network

Plan the array and client path around 10GbE: 1 x 10GbE SFP+; 2.5GbE: 2(2.5G/1G/100M).[3]

Good with planning

You need x86 applications or media transcoding

The exact factory configuration and platform limits do not make this the safest default for that need: you need x86 applications or media transcoding.[1]

Hardware, storage and network planning

01

The exact factory configuration matters

This page covers TS-432X-4G-US, mapped to the official TS-432X-4G hardware table. CPU: AnnapurnaLabs, an Amazon company Alpine AL524, 4-core, 2.0GHz. Factory memory: 4 GB SODIMM DDR4.[1]

02

Plan storage and networking together

Storage: 4 x 3.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s, 3Gb/s. Connectivity: 10GbE: 1 x 10GbE SFP+; 2.5GbE: 2(2.5G/1G/100M). Advertised port speed is not a guarantee for one file transfer; drive count, RAID, protocol, client and switch can each become the limit.[1]

03

Read measured results with their setup

Club386 tested four8TB IronWolf drives in RAID10 through SFP+10GbE. CrystalDiskMark sequential read/write was828.89/444.18MB/s, but random4K writes were only6.34–6.72MB/s. The436MB/s copy screenshot is an instantaneous reading at23% completion; its30-second field is time remaining. Separate prose reports roughly30seconds for the whole15GB copy.[3]
