TerraMaster F4-425 Pro N350 network attached storage system

Is the F4-425 Pro N350 right for you?

Heavier four-bay TOS workloads

N350 and N305 both have eight Gracemont cores. This N350 SKU ships with 16 GB versus the N305 SKU’s 8 GB; compare exact configuration and workload evidence before paying more.[1]

Good fit

Fast shared storage with applicable test evidence

HWBusters tested four SATA SSDs in RAID 5; Macworld used SATA/NVMe SSDs. Neither establishes four-HDD RAID throughput, and two 5GbE ports do not automatically make one 10GbE transfer.[7][5][2]

Good fit with planning

The N305/8GB version is sufficient

Compare drive cost, the installed network path and workload evidence with your requirements before choosing this configuration.[1]

What testing supports

HWBusters tested four SATA SSDs in RAID 5; Macworld used SATA/NVMe SSDs. Neither establishes four-HDD RAID throughput, and two 5GbE ports do not automatically make one 10GbE transfer.[7][5][2]

03

Software and recovery

Keep a separate backup and test a restore. Official app listings and generic TOS help describe available features; the reviewed units do not establish every update, retention, replication or endpoint-recovery workflow.[1]

Macworld: N350/16 GB SSD-populated 5GbE copies

Single-port 5GbE SSD transfers were fast; bonding produced little benefit in this setup. Short Disk Speed Test writes and larger AmorphousDiskMark writes differed substantially. The adjacent CrystalDiskMark prose gives inconsistent write values and units; those prose values are excluded.

Macworld: N350/16 GB SSD-populated 5GbE copies

Tested: N350/16 GB, Seagate IronWolf SATA SSD plus two Crucial T710 NVMe drives, Btrfs. SATA capacity is printed with an apparent GB/TB typo and is not adopted. M4 Max Mac Studio via EnGenius ECS2512FP; separate PCWorld Intel Windows client mentioned. SSDs, not four HDDs.

Applies to: Direct for N350/16 GB hardware and 5GbE SSD-populated copies. Not a four-HDD RAID result. CrystalDiskMark 580 vs 470 MB/s write figures in adjacent sentences are internally inconsistent; retain the later 587/470 pair with that caveat.

Questions before buying

What does the original testing establish?

HWBusters tested four SATA SSDs in RAID 5; Macworld used SATA/NVMe SSDs. Neither establishes four-HDD RAID throughput, and two 5GbE ports do not automatically make one 10GbE transfer.[7][5][2]

Which system version will arrive?

Current manufacturer marketing advertises TOS 7, but the exact shipping build and update-package mapping were not verified. Review results apply to the versions recorded in each test.[1]

Are storage drives included?

No. These are diskless offers. Select suitable drives and allow for RAID overhead and an independent backup.[1]

Does N350 have more cores than N305?

No. Both have eight cores. This N350 factory SKU has 16 GB memory, compared with 8 GB on the separately listed N305 SKU.[1]
