Living with it

U.2 storage, ECC upgrades and dual 10GbE

01

Four-bay Ryzen storage for fast multi-user networks

DXP4800 GT combines four SATA bays, two NVMe slots and dual 10GbE with expandable DDR4. It suits shared storage and containers where drive layout, cache and multiple clients matter. U.2 SSDs replace the first two SATA positions; they do not add two extra bays.[1]

02

Measured performance

Dong measured HDD RAID 5 at 571 MB/s read and 459 MB/s write, versus 1143 and 881 MB/s on mirrored NVMe. Club386’s original AJA image shows 753 MB/s read and 655 MB/s write on cached RAID 10; its prose reverses the directions.[4]

03

Application use with explicit limits

PCWelt ran six containers and an Ubuntu Server VM but found stock 8GB memory restrictive. Android Central played four 4K HDR streams without establishing four simultaneous transcodes. A codec-specific media test is still needed for that requirement.[7]

Questions before buying

What does the performance evidence show?

Dong measured HDD RAID 5 at 571 MB/s read and 459 MB/s write, versus 1143 and 881 MB/s on mirrored NVMe. Club386’s original AJA image shows 753 MB/s read and 655 MB/s write on cached RAID 10; its prose reverses the directions.[4]

Application use with explicit limits?

PCWelt ran six containers and an Ubuntu Server VM but found stock 8GB memory restrictive. Android Central played four 4K HDR streams without establishing four simultaneous transcodes. A codec-specific media test is still needed for that requirement.[7]

What should I check before buying?

Choose the exact diskless model and RAM configuration, check full drive part numbers in the compatibility list, and budget for drives plus a separate backup. Dealer stock and price are dated observations; shipping and tax depend on your destination.[1][9]
