Is the NASync DXP480T Plus right for you?

Fast compact SSD storage

Four NVMe slots and two connection methods can serve large projects, but slot speeds and client paths differ.[1][6]

Good fit with planning

Silent operation under heavy load

Liliputing measured loud fans during CPU stress; room, distance and workload matter.[6]

Consider carefully

Low-cost bulk archive

Only M.2 data drives fit; compare the total SSD capacity cost with an HDD enclosure.[1]

Hardware, software and ownership tradeoffs

01

Compact all-flash storage over 10GbE or Thunderbolt networking

DXP480T Plus offers four M.2 data slots, Core i5-1235U, 10GbE and two Thunderbolt 4 ports. It suits compact fast storage when SSD cost is acceptable. Slots are not equally fast, and small fans can become loud under load; plan around your actual client connection and sustained workload.[1]

02

Measured performance

StorageReview’s four 1TB Samsung 980 Pro drives in RAID 5 reached 1128038 KB/s read and 931322 KB/s write in its sequential chart. Its saturated 4K test also recorded a 16.589-second maximum write latency on prelaunch UGOS 1.0.0.0556.[5]

03

Thunderbolt is a separate network path

Liliputing copied 100GB to a NUC 13 Extreme at NAS read/write rates of 1.51/1.42 GB/s over Thunderbolt IP networking, versus 1.09/1.15 GB/s over Ethernet. This is not USB mass-storage mode or a promise of 40Gb/s file copies.[6]

Limits to keep in mind

  • Software limitations are dated to the tested early release; the all-flash result does not describe an HDD NAS.
  • One unit and one test period do not establish product or brand reliability.

Limits to keep in mind

  • April 2024 UGOS.
  • 1TB consumer SSDs, not 8TB NAS NVMe.
  • HDD comparison is DXP6800 Pro related evidence.
  • Prelaunch firmware; no current retest proves persistence. DXP6800 Pro comparison changes media, RAID and network-port count, so it is not a controlled HDD-versus-SSD experiment.

  • Wi-Fi setup/reconnection needed an Ethernet fallback in this trial. HDMI video playback worked through the mobile app, but the 3.5 mm jack did not work with the tested apps.Source location: Original article: tested experience and limitations

Limits to keep in mind

Questions before buying

What does the performance evidence show?

StorageReview’s four 1TB Samsung 980 Pro drives in RAID 5 reached 1128038 KB/s read and 931322 KB/s write in its sequential chart. Its saturated 4K test also recorded a 16.589-second maximum write latency on prelaunch UGOS 1.0.0.0556.[5]

What should I check before buying?

Choose the exact diskless model and RAM configuration, check full drive part numbers in the compatibility list, and budget for drives plus a separate backup. Dealer stock and price are dated observations; shipping and tax depend on your destination.[1][8]
