Is the NASync DXP8800 Plus right for you?

Large eight-bay media and backup arrays

Eight SATA bays plus two M.2 slots and dual 10GbE match a large UGOS archive if you accept the disclosed workload and software boundaries.[1]

Good fit

Multi-user 10GbE storage

Dual 10GbE is real hardware; TechRadar and NAS Compares both found 2024 UGOS networking extras (jumbo frames) missing, and NAS Compares called 10GbE copies weaker than expected.[1][2][7]

Good fit with planning

NVMe pool or cache as the primary speed path

TechRadar measured ~5.6 GB/s reads in slot 1 vs ~1.7 GB/s in slot 2 on different SSDs. Treat the slots as unequal until you retest.[2]

Check slot bandwidth

Four or six bays are enough

You pay for eight bays, a larger chassis and higher official access watts (70.39 W).[1]

Living with it

Hardware, software and ownership tradeoffs

01

Match capacity and expandability

SKU 35126 is the diskless i5-1235U/8GB DDR5 configuration. Eight SATA bays plus two M.2 positions yield advertised 272TB raw capacity with 8×32TB and 2×8TB media, before RAID. PCIe x4 is advertised; NASCompares successfully used one Intel X540 card, not every possible card.[1][7]

02

Separate local, 10GbE and 1GbE tests

TechRadar measured local M.2 reads of 5599 and 1715 MB/s on different SSDs. NASCompares reports roughly 650–700 MB/s 10GbE copies. Gadgeteer measured 108.7 MB/s write and 101.8 MB/s read on a 1GbE network. These are different paths and methods.[2][7][8]

03

Date the software evidence

Early 2024 Docker/HDMI updates override older missing-feature text in the same review. Current UGOS pages list Docker, VM, SAN Manager and snapshots. Gadgeteer actually tested DLNA, while TechRadar ran Plex/Drupal containers; neither establishes simultaneous transcode or VM capacity.[2][7][8][5][6]

TechRadar

TechRadar (2024)

Chassis, CPU headroom and I/O were the strong points; UGOS Pro was unfinished, lacked Hybrid RAID, and could not set jumbo frames / >1500 MTU at the time. The two M.2 slots were not equal: slot 1 showed full Gen4-class reads on the Corsair module; slot 2 on the Kioxia module was about a quarter of its rated speed, consistent with a narrower PCIe allocation. Test scope: Exact eight-bay i5/8GB/dual-10GbE enclosure. NVMe bandwidth is slot-specific. Software complaints are dated 26 Apr 2024 and are not a 2026 UGOS audit.

Limits to keep in mind

  • Hands-on / Kickstarter-era unit, not a long-term review.
  • Affiliate commission disclosure on the page; sample gift/cash not stated.
  • Two different SSDs, one per slot; slot inequality is the conclusion, not a matched-pair retest.
  • Software limits are tied to 26 Apr 2024 UGOS.
  • Article misnames CPU as i7-1235U; exact-model official i5-1235U is used.
  • Local M.2 bandwidth is not LAN transfer speed; no matched-drive slot swap.

Limits to keep in mind

  • Pre-production sample supplied by UGREEN; affiliate links disclosed.
  • Publication April 26 with earlier April 24 update metadata preserved rather than silently reordered.

Limits to keep in mind

  • UGREEN provided sample, no advance approval; affiliate links disclosed.
  • 1GbE limits the measurement; no 10GbE throughput or measured watts/dBA.
  • Printed compact dimensions belong to another model; manufacturer power is not reviewer measurement.
  • Author 1–2 hour RAID optimization estimate is not a timed initialization/rebuild benchmark.
  • DLNA direct playback does not establish Plex hardware transcoding or VM capacity.

Drives and usable capacity

2026-09-11 diskless list price was $1,369.99 at UGREEN and Newegg. Eight HDDs, optional NVMe, 10GbE switching and a RAM upgrade are extra. Official 272 TB is 8×32 TB + 2×8 TB before RAID.[3][9][1]

Network path

Dual 10GbE does not give one client 20 GbE. 2024 tests could not enable jumbo frames, and NAS Compares filed 10GbE performance as a con. Budget a matching NIC and switch, then measure.[1][7][2]

Three-year main-device warranty

Official warranty policy names the DXP6800/8800 series for three years; supplied network cable and power adapter are one year. Purchase-region conditions apply.[10]

Questions before buying

Does dual 10GbE guarantee 20GbE to one client?

No. Each port is 10GbE; client, network, protocol, RAID and cache determine transfers. Do not add link rates to predict one file copy.[1]

What warranty applies?

Official warranty policy names the DXP6800/8800 series for three years; supplied network cable and power adapter are one year. Purchase-region conditions apply.[10]

Does a snapshot replace backup?

No. Keep an independent copy and test restoration on the installed UGOS build. General snapshot support does not prove immutable retention or full endpoint recovery.[5]

Are the two M.2 positions equally fast?

Two 2024 original reviews found different effective paths. TechRadar used different SSDs, while NASCompares reports second-slot negotiation at 8GT/s ×2. Local bandwidth is not LAN speed; exact revision/firmware can matter.[2][7]
