- Long-term reliability: No controlled exact-MPN field failure-rate study is adopted. Warranty and MTBF do not establish the lifespan of the unit you receive.
- Physical revision and NAS compatibility: Merchant pages do not guarantee a complete dash suffix or firmware. No blanket compatibility claim is made.
- Acoustic and physical revision differences: 2025 data sheet gives 28/30 dBA idle/seek; 2021 manual gives 1.8/2.6 bel typical A-weighted sound power, different shock and power figures. The current shipment’s complete hardware suffix is unspecified, so neither set is converted into a guaranteed listening level. A negative owner noise report with suffix 2YS101/SC60 was also checked; it does not establish a defect or population frequency.
- Current US offer coverage: On 2026-09-11 Newegg’s visible primary price for ST12000VN0008 was $429.99 in stock (Newegg-sold). Older B&H and Adorama rows keep their 2026-09-08 times. Confirm seller, new condition and shipping at purchase.
