Plus Series 4TB: specifications and dated store comparison →

4TB decimal for Synology home and small-office systems, with the exact HAT3300-4T revision kept separate.

One Synology Plus Series 4TB HAT3300-4T internal SATA hard drive. NAS enclosure and other drives sold separately.

HAT3300-4T is the 20.20 mm, 5400 rpm, 4 TB Plus disk. Hardwareluxx tested two Synology-supplied ST4000VN3300 samples. The 2026-09-11 Newegg page is not a qualified current offer: the H1 prints HAT3310-4T while the specification Model and ItemDetail Model print HAT3300-4T. B&H $229.99 remains the 2026-08-30 observation. ChooseCompute has not tested this drive. See the review evidence ↓

Is 4TB Plus Series storage right for your NAS?

A 4TB-per-bay capacity plan

One drive provides 4TB decimal before formatting; redundancy and growth allowance still reduce practical headroom.[1]

Good when the capacity math fits

Synology home and small-office systems

The documented 180TB/year read, written or verified and family features support this intended class, within the exact host compatibility boundary.[1]

Designed for this storage class

Quiet storage beside a desk

Published acoustic labels and review observations, when available, do not predict resonance or seek noise in your enclosure.[2]

Capacity, power, cooling and sound for HAT3300-4T

01

What 4TB changes in a NAS plan

Its capacity is practical only if it leaves enough room for growth before the next drive replacement. Calculate formatted space, redundancy, snapshots and backup copies before deciding how many drives to buy.[1]

02

What the 202 MB/s rating does and does not say

The rating is useful for checking the exact HAT3300-4T column. It does not guarantee a network transfer rate or random-I/O result, and it should not be copied to a neighboring MPN.[1]

03

How much confidence the available testing adds

2 selected exact-MPN original tests add setup-bound observations. ChooseCompute has not tested this drive.[2][3]

04

Related 8 TB HAT3300 notes are not 4 TB measurements

Blackvoid ran DSM and RAID 5 transfers on HAT3300-8T, firmware PL01. Those observations may help explain the product family, but they do not measure this 4TB drive.[7][3][1]

Hardwareluxx

Johannes StinglAug 22, 2023

Synology HAT3300 4TB review

Hardwareluxx tested two Synology-supplied HAT3300-4T samples. Spin-up was 23.92 W; idle after ten minutes was 1.90/2.07 W. Copy power was close at 3.52/3.56 W, but random-read power differed at 5.41/7.84 W. Single-drive CDM sequential results were about 200–214 MB/s, and two-drive RAID 0 reached about 399 MB/s. These are controller-bench results, not NAS-network speeds; idle noise used the site’s new 2023 protocol.

Synology HAT3300 4TB review

Tested: Two HAT3300-4T samples supplied by Synology (printed ST4000VN3300; page 6 tables typo ST4000VN0033). Host: Core i9-12900KS, MSI MAG Z690 Tomahawk WiFi DDR5, Crucial 32 GB DDR5-5200 CL42, Windows 11 Pro (then-current 2023), Adaptec SmartRAID Ultra 3254-16e/e in an AIC J2012 SAS3 chassis. Bench also lists 4×1 TB Seagate BarraCuda Q5 RAID 0 as source SSDs and 2× Kioxia PM7-V 3.2 TB cache SSDs. Two-drive RAID 0 tests disabled controller cache. Power: Rigol DS1054Z, Rigol PVP 2150 probes, PicoTech TA189 clamps, 5 V and 12 V together, ~1 minute repeats.

Applies to: Exact 4 TB samples on a high-performance RAID controller. Single-drive numbers are not NAS-network throughput. RAID 0 figures are a two-disk controller array with cache off, not a Synology volume.

  • Two HAT3300-4T samples were supplied by Synology. Labels read ST4000VN3300; page 6 tables print ST4000VN0033, which is a source typo, not a second MPN.Source location: Page 1 sample sentence; page 2 photos; page 6 table labels
  • Startup and idle power for this SKU are 23.92 W and 1.9 W on page 3. The 17.54 W / 1.81 W rows are Toshiba S300 HDWT840, not Synology.Source location: Page 3 Anlauf and Leerlauf charts
  • Copy power matches closely (3.52 vs 3.56 W) but HD Tune Pro RAR power does not (5.41 vs 7.84 W). The author says a third sample would be needed. The samples are not uniformly close.Source location: Page 6 power comparison and commentary
  • On the new 2023 noise protocol the 4 TB drive is the loudest idle unit in that chart (22 dBA) but among the quieter units under RAR load. Access is described as quiet relative to idle. Embedded YouTube clips on page 4 were not played here.Source location: Page 4 idle/load charts and prose; page 7 notes a small acoustic weakness
  • Page 1 manufacturer table lists 2.8 / 3.2 under a sone heading. That unit does not match the official 23 / 27 dB datasheet pair and is not used as acoustic proof.Source location: Page 1 spec table Geräusch (sone)

Limits to keep in mind

  • Two samples; RAR power 5.41 vs 7.84 W is a large split, so do not treat behaviour as uniform.
  • RAID 0 has no redundancy and used a high-performance Adaptec controller, not a NAS.
  • CDM textual charts do not state test size or queue depth.
  • Page 6 duplicates the HD Tune sequential-read table; sample 2 write numbers are not taken from that copy.
  • New 2023 noise room is not comparable with older Hardwareluxx HDD dBA sets; mic distance/background unstated; load HTML avg vs peak vs min is ambiguous.
  • Embedded page-4 YouTube clips were not played. Page 1 2.8/3.2 sone heading is not used as acoustic proof.
  • Samples supplied by Synology (gift/loan). Cash payment and affiliate status are not stated.

Current and historical HAT3300-4T listings and ownership costs

1 usable current main offer checked on 2026-09-10

Each current row keeps the selected main seller, condition, availability and only a price visible without a cart action. Null price means the main buy box hid it; every current fact is a dated observation that requires a fresh check before purchase.[6]

Historical listings remain separate

The 3 retained historical listings keep their original August or early-September 2026 dates and are not overwritten by the 2026-09-10 observations.[4][5]

Compare the delivered unit and seller

Check HAT3300-4T, new condition, seller, regional warranty channel, shipping and return terms. A marketplace product page does not by itself identify the current seller.[6][4]

Budget for the storage layout

A mirrored or parity-protected layout may require multiple drives, while a separate backup needs additional storage. Compare total delivered cost for the complete plan.[1]

Newegg 2026-09-11 identity conflict — not a qualified offer

The Newegg H1 is “HAT3310-4T” while the spec table Model is HAT3300-4T (ItemDetail Model HAT3300-4T, Description Title still says HAT3310-4T). Visible price $219.99, sold-by Newegg. That capture is a pending candidate, not an exact-MPN current offer. B&H $229.99 on 2026-08-30 was not refreshed. Amazon 2026-09-10 still has no usable USD price.[8][4]

HAT3300-4T questions before buying

How much usable space will 4TB provide?

Less than the decimal label after formatting, and less again when the chosen redundancy layout reserves capacity. Leave room for growth and snapshots.[1]

What should I verify before ordering HAT3300-4T?

Confirm the full MPN, seller, new condition, NAS compatibility, firmware support, mounting fit and delivered price. Recheck every historical merchant listing.[1][6]

Has ChooseCompute tested this drive?

No. This guide synthesizes manufacturer documents, retained merchant records and any clearly identified third-party original tests; each result keeps its setup limits.[2][3]
